Performance standards on reading

Research question: Do the reading achievements of pupils in grade 2 and 3 improve after their teachers have followed a Professional Development-program on the use of performance standards? 

 

Method: A randomized field trial will investigate the effect of a Professional Development-program on teacher behavior and pupil achievement. The program is focused on the setting of performance standards and facilitating the implementation of these standards in practice through the use of formative assessment and feedback. 

 

Status: The intervention is currently in the design stage and will be implemented in September 2010 on approximately 50 schools in The Netherlands.
